Membership Levels Actively employed and salaried personnel
being employed full time by a Municipal Government, currently working in the
field of Municipal Detentions, and Police Officers. Professional members may
vote, hold office in board positions, and enjoy all benefits and privileges of
membership in the organization. Employed and salaried personnel currently
working in the field of Detentions, Jails, Corrections, Private Industry Jails,
and Commissioned Law Enforcement Officers as defined under the C.C.P., section
2.12, not employed at a Municipality. (County, State, Federal, and other Law
Enforcement Officers.) Active members may vote but may not hold office. Members
shall otherwise enjoy all benefits of membership in the organization. Retired personnel past employed by a
Municipality, County, State, or Federal Government in the field of Detentions,
Jail, Corrections, or Law Enforcement. Retirement for this purpose is defined as
having spent at least ten years (10) employment service in one of the above
capacities, then having retired under an agency recognized retirement plan as
provided for by that employer. Retired members may vote but may not hold office.
Members shall otherwise enjoy all benefits of membership in the organization. Those persons who receive compensation in any
form for service rendered in business and industry. Except for membership on any
advisory committees, these members may not vote, or hold office. Corporate
sponsorship includes advertisement on the Municipal Jail Association of Texas
website with a hyperlink to your corporate website and any mailings made to our
members, 2 additional conference registrations when booth space is purchased for
the annual MJAT training conference, annual MJAT membership list distributed in
January of each year. Booth space preferences will be honored only after event
sponsors have been awarded booth space positions at the annual MJAT Training
Conference. Those persons not meeting the requirement
for any other class of membership. Associate members may not vote or hold
office.
